Our Constituency’s former Member of Parliament, Michael Ancram was admitted to the Roll of Honorary Freemen of the town of Devizes at a special ceremony on Thursday 6th October.
In a ceremony that dates back to 1974, Mr Ancram, now Lord Lothian was given this special honour at the Town Hall, Assembly Room having served as the town’s MP between 1992 and 2010.
The resolution to grant Lord Lothian the Freedom was made by Cllr. Charles Winchcombe, who described him as an outstanding ambassador for the town. After the motion was unanimously adopted by Devizes Town Council, Judge John McNaught, the Honorary Recorder of Devizes, delivered an informative and entertaining address in support.

On Friday 9th September, North East Somerset MP, Jacob Rees-Mogg was special guest speaker at Claire Perry MP’s Annual Business Luncheon in Devizes.
Seventy businessmen and women from throughout the Devizes Constituency enjoyed an informative and entertaining speech by Mr Rees-Mogg in the ballroom of the Bear Hotel.
